Walk in the Park – Write Now! and Whirligig 8

THIS WEEK’S WORDS, taken from “Different Ways to Pray” by Naomi Shihab Nye: method, country, stones, bleached, sheep, olive, humming, needlework, men, fool, dominoes, laugh

The long shadows of the trees made her early morning walk through the park seem like she was in another world.

The sheep were humming, birds were barking, men were falling down like dominoes and laughing like fools. The olive and oak trees were swaying back and forth even though it wasn’t a windy day. There was no order or method in the scene, so unlike an Elizabethan needlework depicting a charming park.

Where was this place? Samantha was getting scared. She always walked through the park in the country but this morning, something was not right. She stepped on some stones, bleached by the sun and the long shadows made them look like giant boulders. She wished to wake up from this outlandish scene, bring her back to where she was.
