At our present state, we can start writing our plans. All our lives we’ve been juggling work in the city, raising a son and now that he has left, we can think of moving. This move is a first step towards facilitating the process of an early retirement. Oh how we will embrace living in the country – the easy pace of life, fresh eggs and milk from the nearby farm, a walk up the cliff for some communing with nature – these thoughts have sustained us throughout the years. As long as we can send for necessary supplies, we don’t mind being stranded there.

The story is okay, but the tense confusion leaves me the same way.
Sorry.

that’s OK, ceayr 🙂 I’ll read it again and make the necessary corrections. Appreciate your comment, cheers 🙂

It sounds idyllic. The tenses are quite muddled – I wasn’t sure if these were future plans, present moment or looking back? Paints a nice picture though.

thanks, FabricatingFiction 🙂 it’s at the present moment for future plans. I’ve changed some of the verbs, hope it’s a bit clearer. cheers again 🙂

I like the wordle. Maybe the mix of tenses is right for this piece. I just retired and I feel a little confused about my future. 😎

I think it’s great. No tense confusion after your juggling, apparently, it’s all clear.

I’m not sure if you’ve made the changes the others were talking about, but it still seems a little muddled to me. I do think I get a sense of what is going on though. A couple is looking forward to retirement in an idyllic locale. Yes?

I live in a place very similar to the one you describe – complete with cliffs! We so often see people who leave the city for a quieter life, and they rarely adapt or settle.
