The Apartment

“The last time, everything fit in three duffles…” that was when I was a student and moving from the students’ accommodation to Mrs. Booth’s room near the university. Now, after thirty years living in this apartment, with all the children grown up and have left the nest, we’re thinking of downsizing. But I don’t think three duffles will be enough to move. We’ve been packing and organising stuff to be thrown away. We also asked the kids to take their own stuff to their places, their memories, their old toys and books. We are not leaving a house, we’re also leaving thirty years of fun, laughter, birthdays, the trends and fads that the children have gone through like piercing, dates, loud music. Shared memories, good or bad ones, and will always stay in our hearts.
