Words: halfway, midnight, mortal, forest, slow, purple
I couldn’t take one more step
halfway there and I want to give up
I’m only a mortal, living in a forest
life could be slow and purple
waiting for some signs at midnight
the day the music died
the forest on fire
halfway to midnight
mortals were asleep
slow to react, turning purple
the day that I die
sky was purple
turning slowly to midnight
mortals in the forest
no halfway for me

Wow! Your final stanza packs a punch. This exercise seems to give the poem a somewhat surreal feeling. And that only adds to what you put together.
