Writing Prompt #165 “Collage 26” – Emptiness

THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from “Once in a Meadow, Near Los Osos by Michael McClintock: single, empty, dandelion, spool, aflame, wanton, flaring, wildflowers, poppies, coastal, innocent, coat

Standing on an empty rail track

A southern breeze, put the coat on

World used to be bright, now black

There used to be two chairs on the lawn

With a single bag and nowhere to go

How did this happen? What’s next?

Is that a choice? Being incognito?

Of events she’s still perplexed

Feeling of emptiness and anxiety

A dandelion amongst the poppies

As she walks by the alley

She wants life to be back, please

If she could just spool back the events

Living a lively and wanton life

And everything was full of suspense

The pain was still rife

Where love and life still aflame

Like wildflowers, emotions flared

There’s no one to blame

Must have been faired and squared
