Paalam Na Po, Ama (Goodbye, Dad)

Paalam na po, Ama
Kahit napaka-aga pa
Kahit di ka pa dapat umalis
Kahit marami pang pagkakataon
Masakit isipin na iniwan mo na kami
Na wala ka na upang ipagdiwang
At ipamahagi aming mga kwento
Na hindi mo na makikita
Ang aming paglaki at mga apo mo
Mga araw-araw na nangyayari
Aming narating, aming mga problema
Aming puso na nabibiyak, aming kaligayahan
Paalam na po, Ama
Lumalhati nawa ang iyong kaluluwa

Goodbye, Dad
Although it was still early when you left us
Even when there should be more opportunities
It hurts to think that you left us
You were not here to celebrate with us
And listened to our stories
That you never saw us growing
and your grandchildren
The everyday things and happenings
What we have achieved, our problems
When our hearts break, our happiness
Farewell, Father
Let your soul rest in peace

For: Writing 101, Day 10: Farewell

Writing 101, Day 9: Camouflage

Now you see me, now you don’t
Will you miss me if I’m absent?
Camouflaged perfectly well
Putting the matter in a nutshell

A normal being going through life
Will I see you in our afterlife?
The crickets chirped tediously
A caterpillar wanted to be free

A wasp embedded in an amber
A chameleon changing its colour
I’m falling on the edge of the abyss
I’m muddled but couldn’t give it a miss

My flesh is weak and I’m drifting away
I acted like a fool and I was led astray
It was a tame affair but still hidden
What was done couldn’t be undone

A secret so to speak in the mist of tides
I wish I could just take them in strides
From a poppy seed to certain flings
Nothing to whirl and have that strut

On both mind and body it takes its toll
Love soars from earth to infinity
For love of love, or heart’s solitude
Who cry for shadow and cannot tell

Begrudge I come with a plea
Never a sunny day for a feud
Tried to stifle the thoughts
Life is full of different plots

Writing 101, Day 8: Graffiti

I’m a lion, hear me roar
No prospects, life is a bore
A knight in shining armour on a horse
I’m shouting, my voice is hoarse
A dinosaur, a steeple church
I long for something to search
A street scene with all the girls
They’re so pretty with their curls
A grey train passing a grey house
Don’t give in to pressure from spouse
It was a grey day, too I suppose
The dog barks as the cow mows
I’m Taufkirchen in big letters
My speech was beginning to slur
I live and breathe in this city
I love my town, I’m making it pretty
Children playing amidst our tower blocks
Girls with their smocks and frocks
I can shout as loud as I can
I can express myself until they ban
I can tell the world how I feel
I don’t steal so don’t squeal

Writing 101 – Day 6: Fallacy

You’ve eroded your own vegetation
A bargain but the soil was barren
With scarce strength and rain
I don’t know how to explain
Not nurturing what should have been
You thought you could always spin
The crows kept revisiting the place
There’s no way you could be traced
Weaving some false hope and gloom
A cavalier which was what I presume
Rooted on despair, doubt and anguish
Sometimes, garish, foolish or freakish
Last time you promised something
Didn’t budge though I kept on begging
You didn’t keep the promise
How could you be so callous?
Cells kept on moving about
With you there’s always a doubt
Don’t know where to go
I could have said no
I thought you were the one
I thought you were my beacon
But it wasn’t meant to be
Sad but there’s never a “we”

Writing 101, Day 5: Freedom

together we fight for freedom
together we overcome
we have to be free
colonisation from Spain
battle till the end
independence is worth it
for generations to come

Enemies attack
Warriors defend precious soil
Battle of the sea
Great ancestors of the land

Courageous people
Defending sea till the end
Freedom protected
The fruit of their hardship

they fought for our freedom
learning the past through art
at the gallery

country’s history
as part of our heritage
should know them by heart

women took part, too
Philippine Revolution
our own heroines

acknowledging them
they struggle for our freedom
we’re so proud of them

I long to fly in the sky
To soar up the cliffs with the others
Free me from the bondage of poverty
Rift the cage so I can get out to freedom
Cart me out to a world where I’m welcome
Free me from hunger as seen from my rickety legs
I’m all flesh and bones, so please give me some bread
I’m baffled – why can’t I be just like any ordinary child?
The absence of responsibilities, worries and hardship
To be able to sustain a world full of innocence and fun
Being able to chatter instead of stuttering in fright
Give me love and I can understand that in any language

Few More Seconds

Few more seconds to fly for freedom
They flew and had their last crumb
To a place where it’s warm
Lots of birds in a swarm

Few more seconds to say I love you
Expressing my love with a haiku
Being with you I treasure
I kiss you with an ardour

Few more seconds to say thanks
I’m the top among your ranks
I appreciate all the things
The treasure that you bring

Few more seconds to say sorry
With bended knee I plea
If I ever hurt you dear
I regret with a tear

Few more seconds to say goodbye
I leave you with a heavy sigh
All the affection I feel
Full of love and zeal

Writing 101 – Day 2: Reflections

float3

on golden pond
water lilies, frogs, turtles
living happily

living happily
water lily in my hair
see my reflection

see my reflection
enjoying the gorgeous day
sitting by the pond

subtle10

moonrise
holding their hands on their knees
evening at a house

peaceful evening with some wine
reminiscing bygone days

candlelite dinner
hold hands under the table
her eyes are sparkling

crickets chirping by the trees
soft breeze whistling in the night

full moon reflection
lovers walk by the sea
he gave her his coat

they promise to love each one
kiss by the light of the moon

grandad telling jokes
everyone’s eager to hear
laughing our hearts out

granny’s apple cake all gone
now having nice cups of tea

Writing 101, Day 3: Sleep

the kiss of the muse
and so inspiration comes
a slumbering thought
curdles long life in short time
pleasure, pain, faith, hope and love

To sleep, perchance to dream
Horses gallop across moonbeam
To dream, ah, that is so divine
Sailing across the river Rhine

Where all my thoughts meshed
And waking up feeling refreshed
Playing on each other in different fields
It’s as rough as a public park, the outfield

Wrestling with ideas, concepts, activities
Bees’ knees, cheese please, flees freeze
I dream that I was a butterfly, flickering
Blooming, blushing, breezing, breaming
Flapping wings smartly, enjoying its nectar

Taking its time, fluttering with pleasure
I am in a dream one morning in paradise
I can soar up high as the sun will rise
And I float and bring out a slow yawn
Though I fear never shall I see dawn?

Something Magical

tumblr_mftv2hFCaA1ric07zo1_400

If I’ve got skills, which one would it be?
Whatever it is, I want to have the key
Would it be powerful, magical or useful?
Never a dull moment and certainly not null

Like a frog croaking in tune with its action
Once it’s done, I could lie in the sun
While still yet there is no end to troubles
Depends on what I get from such angles

On and on my neighbour loudly rapping
With the lady next door, he’s got a fling
His thin grin drips like a streak down his chin
He was nowhere to be seen, to my chagrin

I can speak a lot of languages, Chinese, French
And sometimes can stay forever on a bench
German, Russian, as easy as laying on the beach
Round a bend at speed a van has just screeched

I can preach and teach a lot of people to outreach
I hope I don’t bore them with my speech
I can cook something magical; you’d love me for it
And with more practice I know I can’t be a twit

But I truly would like to be able to write really well
Put the magic spell, I can be a belle and I can yell
To take my readers to my world of make-believe, a utopia
Reaching my alpha and omega with the help of Buddha

That magical place where all their troubles are forgotten
I can only hope so and there’s no need to bargain
An action-packed full of adventure, wit, humour, all in one!
I’ve spun around hoping to make it and all the time having fun!
