Give Me Freedom

I long to fly in the sky
To soar up the cliffs with the others
To say goodbye as I fly high
The wind brushing my feathers
Free me from the bondage of poverty
Rift the cage so I can get out to freedom
I beg of you, please set me free
To eat some crumbs and then some
Cart me out to a world where I’m welcome
Free me from hunger as seen from my papery wings
Somehow I can prove that I’m awesome
I want to experience the world and what it brings
I’m all flesh and bones, so please give me some bread
I’m baffled – why can’t I be just like any ordinary bird?
I’d like my wings to be able to spread
I can tweet but not bark or purred
The absence of responsibilities, worries and hardship
To be able to sustain a world full of innocence and fun
I miss the nature, the water to sip
I think I’ve won if I could feel the sun
Give me love and I can understand that in any language
I long to fly in the sky and soar up the cliffs
Don’t give me anything, I’m sure I can manage
Just set me free and I’m off in a jiff

Looking Out From the Darkness

looking out from the darkness
sky so bright, blue sea and hills
looking out from the darkness

a peaceful rural idyll
where we could go for a walk
sky so bright, blue sea and hills

wearing jeans and white smock
meet my friend for a picnic
where we could go for a walk

we can paddle by the creek
splashing water, what fun
meet my friend for a picnic

we had a race and I won
“I let you win,” he shouted
splashing water, what fun

“I’m the winner,” I gloated
looking out from the darkness
“I let you win,” he shouted
looking out from the darkness

Microfiction challenge #4: At the window

He kissed me at the window, I was in paradise
His scents comparable to an all-spice
And I thought that was so nice

Short and sweet, like I was in a pyre
Similar to a cat, I even purred
He was so strong, he was my anchor

Kept me high, like a kite in the sky
He was my own personal samurai
Feeling ever so light, I could fly

Kept me alive, he kept saying my name
I hold onto his arms and I was still aflame
I just hope it wasn’t just a game

Hundreds of fish in the sea, he chose me
I was feeling lightheaded and so bouncy
Felt weak on my knee

Promise, I won’t kick him out my door
Because I want to kiss some more
And I hope there’s a forevermore

Feeling ever so humble
But can’t help but babble
I shivered inwardly, so blissful

And here’s the prose, as suggested by Jane:

The breeze made me shiver. With the open window, he approached me. Eyes shining, glossing over, he kissed me. I was in paradise! His scents comparable to an allspice. And I thought, wow, that was so nice. Short and sweet, but so intense, like being in a pyre. God knows why, but I think I even purred like a cat. A fast pulse and heightened senses, I was transformed to a different world.

Oh my personal samurai, my anchor and he’s kissing me. Kept me alive, kept saying my name. I hold onto his arms and I was still aflame. Hundreds of fish in the sea, he chose me. I could fly, feeling ever so light and high, like a kite in the sky. Felt weak on my knees and at the same time bouncy. What has he done to me? Was it all a dream? If it was, I don’t want to wake up.

I just hope it wasn’t just a game. I promise to be good and won’t kick him out my door. I love that kiss and I hope there’s a forevermore. There’s a feeling of connection and our hearts feel complete. I shivered inwardly, so blissful.

Day 26 Marathon

June 26, 2016. Marathons are being held today in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; Santa Cruz, California; Lubec, Maine; and Arlington, Virginia. The race in Arlington is indoors.

I’m not doing any of them. I may run or ride a few miles, though.

A marathon is 26.2 miles. Marathoners don’t start out running 26.2 miles! They start small and train for it. They work hard to reach that distance.

Tell us about something you worked for. Something you thought you might never accomplish, but you did.

If you have actually run a marathon, you can write about that!

This is a model boat HMS Bounty that Him Indoors made. It took him a couple of years to build it, but his patience and creativity paid off. He worked on it meticulously, thought about ways to bend the wood, sewed the sails and all the other details. I admired him for it. It kept him busy, especially when the weather wasn’t good so he could work in the cellar. Well done, Him Indoors!

Two years ago, we gave him this kit for HMS Victory and he loved it. He started working on it. It’s a bigger project than the HMS Bounty but I’m sure he loves the challenge. He’s halfway there. Good luck, Him Indoors!

SEASONS – Das Kranzbach

To celebrate our Pearl Anniversary and Him Indoors’ birthday, we went to Das Kranzbach for the long weekend. We had a great time! This upscale spa retreat set in a 1915 country house with an annex is 16 km from Partnach Gorge and 15.9 km from Bavarian Zugspitze mountain railway.

For some reason, they upgraded us. We were given a biggish room on the top floor of Mary Portman house. In the main house, the stylish rooms are furnished in a modern, Arts and Crafts style, and feature free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. Annex rooms add balconies and modern pine furnishings. Quirky treehouse and a 1915 gatehouse suites are also available. The weather was nice so we were able to walk to Elmau and to Fernchensee Lake.

Breakfast and dinner are included and served in the chic restaurant, which features a terrace with mountain views. The day spa includes indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, steam baths and treatment rooms, in addition to yoga and hiking.

Day 15 Fifteen Sentences

June 15, 1752. Benjamin Franklin flew a kite during a storm. His experiment demonstrated the link between electricity and lightning.

Today is your chance to experiment! Try a new writing style. Write about anything you wish. But you must write exactly fifteen sentences. No more. No less.

I am happy
That I am here with you
I am happy
With the mountain and the sea
Even with storms we’ve got to go through
The challenges we’ve surpassed, signs that we grew
I am happy

Such pleasure
To harvest what we’ve sown
Such pleasure
When you kiss me with such an ardour
When we’re eating our home-grown
When we could sit in the garden and the sun’s shone
Such pleasure

I couldn’t ask for more!

A Sonnet to Him Indoors

Thirty years of devotedness and love
All the experience and our adventure
With you it’s like a cooing of a dove
Together we try to find some answer

We’ve made our home and oh so contented
Our son and bride join us and tortoises
We’re grateful to all and feeling so blessed
Places we’ve visited give us real buzz

We’re so different and we argue sometimes
Each other’s quirks and idiosyncrasies
We have created our own paradigms
One thing for sure, the day we always seize

Today, on our Pearl Anniversary
Thank you for making my life full of glee

Day 13 Lucky 13

June 13, 1944. Prompted by the successful Allied Landing in Europe, Germany launched a V1 Flying Bomb attack on England. Luckily, only four of the bombs hit their targets.

Tell us about a time you were lucky. Or unlucky.

When I was younger, say early 20s, we took my brother to the airport to join his ship. It was his first job as a Marine Engineer and we were all happy for him. My father drove us all back home. My mother sat in the passenger’s seat and the three children sat in the back. I was on the right hand side of the car. We were in Dapitan and the barrier for the train went down. Suddenly my father couldn’t break the car. We were shouting, thinking we won’t be able to stop and we’d drive through the barrier. That our whole family would die and my brother would come home to an empty house. I was praying, I thought that was the end. I haven’t even started my life yet. Luckily, a miracle happened and my father was able to stop the car. We were all in shock but very grateful.
