Roadtrip ~ Pic and a Word Challenge #41

Roadtrip is like a good courtship
Courtship is the same as a roadtrip
Tread carefully and be in good stead
Stead is very important as we tread
All the preparation and fun to call
Call of the wind and adventure all

Love and Saying Goodbye

door-template-instructions
(5) Words: | CHILD | TALK | HOME | TIME | PLAY |

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard,” Winnie the Pooh said that. As a child, I remembered reading about Pooh and his friends by A.A. Milne at home.  Talking of childhood memories, I remembered playing with my siblings and cousins in the street of Dapitan – hide-and-seek, cycling, patinteros and running a lot. Those were the times when we didn’t worry about things like poverty, politics, safety and other day-to-day problems. We just enjoyed playing, having lots of fun and doing our own adventures together. Then we all grew up and soon leaving our nests one by one. But one thing for sure, we’ll always be there for each other and we all know that we’re lucky to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.

Monday Motivations – Treasure

THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from “Morning” by Kristen Case: breathing, against, birds, impossible, skull, bricks, coffee, unfolds, comes, sleeping, white, probability

The day unfolded quietly as I drank my coffee. I had a good night’s sleep for the first time after a long time. That was a good start. I sat in the garden, listened to the birds singing. I put the tortoises out and gave them some dandelions. I checked my emails and answered some of them. That was my morning.

At lunch time, I was cooking my lunch, when the doorbell rang. Ah, the postman came with a parcel, he was probably delivering the ones we’ve ordered recently. I signed the papers when suddenly the door shut. Oh no! I was cooking my lunch! Would it get burnt? Would my house be on fire? What should I do? Should I ring my husband? But, he was in a meeting the whole day, he told me this morning. And my mobile phone was in the house, in my bag. Should I go to my friend who has got the spare key? But my car key was also inside. Should I throw a brick in the window? He would kill me for that! I was starting to feel cold, as I just wore a t-shirt without any jumper, and I was barefooted. My skull was hurting from frustration. Why didn’t I put something like a shoe between the door and the wall, to stop it from closing? I usually do that, but today, I probably was still asleep, totally not there yet. Oh my God, the whole world was playing against me today!

“X marks the spot,” he kept telling me before. I didn’t pay much attention. I should have had. Now this desperate situation. I needed that spare key. Where was it? Why did I do something else while he was showing it to me? I thought he would always be here to get it. Or that it would never happen. Oh God, I promise to be good. And I was positive I could do this. Think, woman, think!

Was it by the gate where the cactuses were? Was it by the front door where the garden tools were? Was it under the blue pine tree? I remembered we kept on changing the place and we took it out last time we were on holiday. That unassuming thing which I didn’t consider before. It was the most precious thing this time. Wait a minute, I remembered where it was. All I need was to pinpoint exactly where it was. OK, right, give me a minute, yes, indeed, I knew it, it was there! I needed some knife to get it, affirmative, I got one from the garden tools. Sure, the flowers on the side, the trellis, I couldn’t reach it…. a little bit more…. found it – my treasure!

National Siblings Day

NATIONAL SIBLINGS DAY (also referred to as Sibling Day) is observed on April 10. It is a day created to honour your brother(s) and/or your sister(s).

A big brother, me, a little sister and the youngest brother
That’s us, the siblings, in one photo the youngest wasn’t even there
I thought our mom looks beautiful and we’re like kids from the block
In another photo was the youngest with our Dad, who was handsome
And in another photo was just me and the big brother in cowbow suits
They were my playmates, my enemies, my allies, my critiques, my fans
I wouldn’t be here without them and I wouldn’t know who I am without them
We may bicker, squabble, and not talk to each other for quite a while
But when someone was hurt or in need of support, we’re there
My siblings, I love you, wherever you are right now
One in Canada, one in England, another one in his ship and I’m in Munich
Whatever you’re doing and has achieved, I’m still here
My brothers and sister

Weekly Writing Prompt #27 – Friends or Enemies?

door-template-instructions
(5) Words: | WORTH | SPARK | PLOT | QUAKE | SPY |

Tanka (5 – 7 – 5 – 7 – 7)

Friends or enemies?
Other times quaking with fear
We laugh, love and cry
Striking sparks off each other
Spying on each other

Know each other’s plot
Is it all worth fighting for?
The future will tell
Definitely not tedious
Perhaps we can make a go

Prompt 94 – In your dreams

compassion0011

He dreamed of years that were long gone
With a job, home, family – now all bygone
A vision of hope nestled in his heart
Even though he lives in his pushcart
A period of happiness when he had space
Made a terrible mistake to his disgrace
A home, a house, a bed and not just any floor
He couldn’t help it, he’s now society’s eyesore
To some degree, things that persuade him to stay
He should celebrate, today’s his birthday
If only he could turn back the clocks
He’d do otherwise and not live on sidewalks
For now, let him sleep as you guard him
Sing him a lullaby or a hymn
Nothing could hurt him anymore
Bless him and in his sleep let him snore

If We Were Having Coffee Right Now…

5377-couple-having-coffee-1366x768-digital-art-wallpaper

If we were having coffee right now…I’d tell you about HRH the son. He’s nearly made it, his Masters thesis. He’s just handed it in last week and waiting for the result. So, we’re keeping our fingers crossed. Whatever or whenever it is, we’re so proud of him. Keep it up, our son!

If we were having coffee right now…I’d tell you that my Mom’s health is alright at the moment, thank God. Last week was touch and go. We thought she’d have a stroke, with her blood pressure up to the ceiling. Then, she had pneumonia. Luckily, she went to the doctor’s at the right time and the cardiologist sorted her out. The good thing about her, she’s a good patient, taking all her medicines and doing what she’s told. Here’s to your health, Mom.

If we were having coffee right now…I’d tell you that a new student started his English lesson last week. He’s the boss of a lift company, as in big boss. So far so good, I’ve assessed his English and talked about his needs and wants. I’ve also showed him some of the books we’ll use. Hope it’s the start of a good partnership.

If we were having coffee right now…I’d tell you that since last week, we’ve been having lovely sunny weather, as if it’s still summer here. Not really a t-shirt and flip flop weather, but a weather where we could sit outside and enjoy our coffee.

Well that’s it from me. Thanks for having coffee with me. Have a lovely day!

RSVP – Daily Prompt

Plan the ultimate celebration for the person you’re closest to, and tell us about it. Where is it? Who’s there? What’s served? What happens?

master-degrees41

HRH the son just skyped us with the good news
He has just handed in his Master’s thesis
And now just waiting for the result
We know it will take some time yet
When they’d say he’s made it
That he’s got a Masters
But for us, it’s definitely good news
We’re so proud of him, he’s done it
So time to celebrate, wish he was here
Him Indoors and I will celebrate
And think of HRH the son
We’ll drink to his health and his future
So what shall we have? Champagne, of course
That’s a good start, then a good appetiser
Perhaps some big mushrooms with garlic
Main meal would be some juicy steak
Chips and green peas
Apple strudel for dessert
All these with a nice bottle of wine
Chateauneuf Du Pape would be ideal
Here’s to you, HRH the son, cheers!

On My Way To Work

ww2

On my way to work, I took the train
Always on time, people come and go
Off to work, off to school, off somewhere nice
Mums taking little Toms and Marys to school
Tom’s still sleepy, Mary’s fussing on her coat
Teen-agers with their nonchalant ways
Boys talking about football last night
Girls busy gossiping and tossing their hair
Grannies on their way to the supermarket
Or could be their coffee mornings
And some don’t even know where they are
A lot with their laptops and mobile phones
Playing games, chatting and surfing
Listening to music, some very loud ones
A few still reading good old newspapers
And some with their pocketbooks
I’m one of them, clutching my book
Some very lucky ones with their luggage
Hopefully going somewhere nice
I’m off on the next stop
Time to say good-bye
Have a nice day everyone!
