The Sandbox Writing Challenge #44 — Lighting Up Your World

Let me tell you what inspires me
Him, son, flowers, nature and sea
Places we’ve been, I like to share
Love stories and tales that scare
And of course, things that make me glee

Wordles, photos, fiction- my spree
Making me express, that’s the key
Got to write them because they’re there
Let me tell you

Wild life, food, they make me happy
Fish, chips and roast beef with gravy
Perhaps, write a play, fair and square
Sometimes nothing works as I glare
Even if I’m a busy bee
Let me tell you

Never Do Anything Halfway

bird

THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from Sonnet XXXV by William Shakespeare, and suggested by Cressida de Nova: roses, plea, mud, thorns, sins, sense, loathsome, love, canker, bud, thief, sweet

Never do anything halfway
Love someone with all your heart
Things you always have to weigh
You’ve got to be smart to impart

Like sweet roses in the garden
Be careful with their thorns
The sun’s out and life’s fun
Why don’t you plant an acorn?

Check buds for loathsome cankers
They come like thieves in the night
Along the riverbank some amblers
Each one fighting for their plight

Before you tread on muds
Or be tempted to commit sins
Use your judgment, I say with a plea
Don’t do things halfway, that’s the key

Bear In There by Shel Silverstein

there__s_a_polar_bear_in_my_fridge_1_by_raven1303-d5mf6fv

There’s a Polar Bear
In our Frigidaire–
He likes it ’cause it’s cold in there.
With his seat in the meat
And his face in the fish
And his big hairy paws
In the buttery dish,
He’s nibbling the noodles,
He’s munching the rice,
He’s slurping the soda,
He’s licking the ice.
And he lets out a roar
If you open the door.
And it gives me a scare
To know he’s in there–
That Polary Bear
In our Fridgitydaire.

The Great Book of lists, chapter 5.1 : People who inspired you

It’s not about Dedcartes, Churchill, Coelho ou any other inspiring thinkers, whose quotes flourish the internet and the social networks.

No, this week is about a list of real people, unknown (or almost) to the world who had a real impact on our life.

Sometimes, just a little thing, a park, a teacher’s precepts, a piece of advice from a friend, you surely had such encounters in your life,  or people who did little but changed the face of your world.

So much gratitude an so many memories for these little but so significant inspirations

Here is my list of people who have inspired me :

Him Indoors – his sense of humour is to die for. I love him to the moon and back and he inspires me to reach the highest star, climb the highest mountain and swim the deepest sea.

My Dad – his high regard of responsibility, generosity and kindness inspired me. I still miss him.

My Mum – her fun and closeness to family makes me love her more. Wish she’ll be with us for many years more.

HRH the son – ah, our pride and joy. His being so cool and takes his own time inspires me.

Jose Rizal – our national hero. His novels and the way he inspired people to fight for freedom is number one on my list.

#WQWWC – Writers Quote Wednesday Writing Challenge – OBSESSION

Many moons ago, there was a boy obsessed with Power Rangers
He watched them, read them, played with them and used them as armours
Then he grew up and moved on
Power Rangers were now bygone
He’s into wrestling, football, metal music and of course, girls and burgers

Don’t Let Evil Win

see-hear-speak-no-evil

“The world is a dangerous place to live
Not because of the people who are evil but
because of the people who don’t do anything about it”
Albert Einstein’s quote is a wonderful quote
Makes us wrestle with our memories
Whether we are acting on its saintly cue
Cracking the code, holding the true meaning
Or tracking down the science behind it
We know we’re not angels and we do react
To different situations in varied ways
But what Einstein is trying to tell us is
To be responsible and look after each one
If we see something evil being done
We don’t just stand there and watch
We have to do something about it
We have to see to it that we are not
Just passive onlookers and self-centred
Don’t let evil win, be active and do it right
