JNW’s Halloween Challenge: Monster

aswang__manananggal_by_experimettle

in a remote village of Nakakatakot
lived a woman called Manding
once a month she changed
to a monster called Manananggal
black wings appeared on her back
she separated her top from her torso
and flew away as the night grew dim
she needed some foetus
sucked their livers and hearts
she said she could smell pregnant women
she tried to stop herself but in vain
this power or accursed was passed on
to her by her mother
as a compromise, she tried to fly far away
away from her village, away from neighbours
hence they wouldn’t be her victims

Monster Berberoka

Monsta

Berberoka
A monster from Abra
Originally lures victims by
Sucking water in the pond
But this monster I just created
Is not the same as the swamp creature
For starters, she cannot swim so she
Cannot suck all the water in the pond
My monster, Berberoka is an orange monster
She lives in the seventh mountain with the tribes
And only comes out when someone is cutting the trees unlawfully
Or hunting nearly extinct animals. She frightens the wits out of them
Until they run off and never return to her seventh mountain she calls home

Flash Fiction and Tale Weaver – Pitring

In a remote village of Madilim
Lived a woman called Pitring
Once a month she changed
To a monster called WakWak
Black wings appeared on her back
She separated her top from her torso
And flew away as the night grew dim
She needed some foetus
Fresh blood that she could suck
She said she could smell pregnant women
She tried to stop herself but in vain
What she did, she tried to fly far away
Away from her village, away from neighbours
So they wouldn’t be her victims
This power was passed on to her
By her mother

Berberoka: Tale Weaver’s Prompt – Create A Monster

This week, I would like you create your own monster and write its tale: how it was born, was it a monster since the beginning, who are his victims, what are his weaknesses, and henceforth.

Berberoka
A monster from Abra
Originally lures victims by
Sucking water in the pond
But this monster I just created
Is not the same as the swamp creature
For starters, she cannot swim so she
Cannot suck all the water in the pond
My monster, Berberoka is an orange monster
She lives in the seventh mountain with the tribes
And only comes out when someone is cutting the trees unlawfully
Or hunting nearly extinct animals. She frightens the wits out of them
Until they run off and never return to her seventh mountain she calls home
