Landscape’s calling

landscape’s calling and I’m here to answer
walking to the trail of serenity
landscape’s calling and I’m here to answer

feeling the sand in my toes and I’m free
the sound of the water as it hits rocks
walking to the trail of serenity

thousand of tree swallows, all in their flocks
American robins and other birds
the sound of the water as it hits rocks

enjoying all these then I go homewards
being part of nature is always fun
American robins and other birds

sky is blue, clouds are white and a bright sun
heaven on earth, what I always wanted
being part of nature is always fun

nature around us, life is so splendid
landscape’s calling and I’m here to answer
heaven on earth, what I always wanted
landscape’s calling and I’m here to answer*

Heeding Haiku With Chèvrefeuille September 7th 2016 tribute to Jane Reichhold.

wild flowers abound
grass so green and sky so blue
beauty around us

frame of nature
the gentle waves of the sea
watching the sunset

coconut trees sway
paddy fields in the background
birds chirping sweetly

Carpe Diem #1037 pleasure

[…] “There is pleasure in the pathless woods, there is rapture in the lonely shore, there is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar; I love not Man the less, but Nature more.” […] Lord Byron

magnificent things
rolling hills and waterfalls
nature at its best

the clear blue sky
the wind brushing my hair
birds sing as I walk

the autumn leaves
the colours of the rainbow
make my day all bright

wide smile
heart that seems to freeze
voice wonder
saying thanks
feels overwhelmed in good way
nature all around

inner glow
happy to be here
open palms
saluting
appreciating the nature
being part of it

Periyar Tiger Reserve

Hello everyone! Two days after the Hindu wedding, we went on a road trip. There were 18 of us in a big van and travelled 165 km, roughly 4 hours from Cochin to Thekkady. It was an interesting trip, with The Corporation Market, Kakkadassery Bridge, St Xavier’s Church and Bavas Archana Hospital on the way. Several petrol pumps were also located en route. It was a good experience, very long travel in the hairpin bend roads. Full of greenery on both sides of the roads.

We went to Periyar Tiger Reserve., which was a very well maintained area managed by the forest department in Kerela. The area was clean and we had a peaceful walk through its dense forest of towering trees and artistic roots. The Periyar lake is within the reserve and there were regular boat rides on the lake. We took the boat ride (1.5 hours of boating) and saw some amazing birds, like hornbills and kingfishers in full flight. Other birds include raptors, water birds, galliform birds, pigeons, wood peckers and passerines. There were also some sambar deers, foxes, monkeys, elephants and bisons, but from a great distance to such a point the animals appear as tiny dots. Overall, it was a good road trip and a boat ride.

Hindustan Organic Garden

Part of our trip to Thekkady was a visit to Hindustan Organic Garden where we had a half an hour tour of their garden. The garden was full of spices and herbs. Great opportunity to learn more about plants and their power. Friendly guide explained everything, starting from names and description of each specie to its utilisation. We even tasted some herbs and chocolates.

The Ultimate Blogging Challenge: Day 2

This is going to be based on things that make you happy. It could be something as simple as making a list of your favourite things, or perhaps you could write a poem. It could even be about a certain special person in your life, a close friend maybe. You could write about a memory you share, or just what they mean to you.

it’s all in the mind
simple things make me happy
pure heart, no worries

living with nature
happiness is within our hearts
together with love

sunshine, flowers bloom
birds singing, feeling of content
life is wonderful

Memories of youth
My happiness
When Sabel was young
Naive in the world
I wanted simple things
Ate ice – cream
Played hide-and-seek
Played catch , marbles , yoyo
Rented a bike
Strolled in town
Bathed in a creek
Along with carabao
Memories of youth
My happiness

us

being with you is magic
magic as in worth living
living a dream forever
forever we grow old and ageing

love is happiness
happiness shared with you
you and I together
together we stick like glue

why is the sky so blue?
blue as the wavy sea
sea breeze and summer dream
dream as my love for thee

the world’s our oyster, the future in our hands
with just a wave of my hard to make out wand

it’s how we look at it, be it a challenge or a setback
if I’m not careful, I’ll find myself sitting on a yak

will we accept the challenge, or will we stop at the first fall?
and shot up all the rest with caffeine, happiness, life and all?

life is not always smooth sailing; there’ll be some setbacks
oh my God, do I feel a knife in my back?

we shouldn’t stop at plan A, there should always be a plan B
I have to take things breezy, gladly and calmly

and if they still don’t work, go on until the last letter plan
though I seem to have misplaced my recipe for flan

Let’s not give up just easily; it’s all a test on our determination
I think it is easy; it’s not thermodynamics or nuclear fusion
