Being Thankful

snow is gone and it’s like spring at the moment – yay!

yesterday was my last class and we’re off for the winter break, so no one-on-one conversation or presentation, no beginner’s class, no intermediate class preparing them for their exams, no travelling to different schools and companies, etc. See them again in March!

all my bags are packed, I’m ready to go! On Monday I fly to the Philippines, the next day to Hong Kong with my mother and aunt, back after 4 days, Him Indoors join me in the Philippines and we go to one of the best islands in the country called Coron, Palawan. Then we fly to Singapore, see his brother and family, then a couple of days in Cambodia to see Angkor Wat. Back home at the end of February, cheers!

I can’t wait to see my mother again, plus all my friends and relatives, eat Filipino food, ride a jeepney, be in a traffic for hours (not!), be in sweat because of the heat, go swimming in the beach, malling, etc.

I had my check-up last Monday and everything seems to be alright – my sugar values are under control and I’m trying to eat healthy food. I use the cross trainer everyday and we try to limit alcohol and sweets. Here’s to good health!

I still enjoy blogging and participate in as many prompts as possible. When I’m away, I have scheduled some blogs to be posted. Otherwise, I’ll make it up to all of you when we get back in March.

HRH the son and his beautiful K are still in love and doing well in the UK. The son is finished with his Masters and just waiting for the oral examination. K will finish her Masters in July. We’re all looking forward to the wedding in May (in England) and August (in India). Here’s to their bright future!

I’m really grateful for everything/everyone that made/making me smile this week and everyday of my life. Him Indoors – the love of my life, HRH the son and his beautiful K, my mother, my siblings and their families, my friends (real and virtual), relatives (through social networks), my students, neighbours, sunrise and sunset, snow, wind, birds singing or making nests, music (classical, jazz), opera, plays, films, good food, zumba, latin dance, crosstrainer, body balance, tea (all sorts of tea) and all of you, my blogging friends – THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

20 Days of Chill: Vacation (Day 16)

Hello everyone, hope you’re all fine. Our snow has melted and we’re 10 degrees today, getting warmer. This time next week, I’m off on a holiday – yay! Four weeks in four countries – the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore and Cambodia. How cool is that? I’ll fly ahead to the Philippines 8 days before Him Indoors. That way, I’ll be able to see my mother and other relatives and talk Filipino, eat all the Filipino food that I’m missing and just be a “Tita” or “Ate” again. Also, I’m taking my Mother and Aunt to Hong Kong for 3 days of “shop till we drop”, eating authentic Chinese food, going to night market, taking the ferry to Kowloon side and other “bonding” moments. We’ll be there for their New Year, too.

Him Indoors follows and we go to Coron, Palawan for a week of pure paradise feeling – swimming, snorkelling, climbing, walking, laying down on the beach and not do anything, being pampered and massaged and eating all the fresh fish and seafood in the world. Then, we fly to Singapore and visit Him Indoors’ brother and his family. Would be nice to see them again. Plus, swimming, shopping, hiking at the rain forest, walking at the botanical garden, night safari at their zoo, boating at Clark Quay, drinking Singapore Sling at Raffles, etc. Last, but not the least, going to Cambodia to see Angkor Wat (one of our Bucket List). This will be our first time in Cambodia and really looking forward to our holiday there. Cheers for now and have a great week everyone!

Ten Things of Thankful 134 (Of Big Things and Little Ones) #10Thankful

Hello everyone! It’s my big brother’s birthday today – yay! he’s celebrating it on his ship, being a Chief Engineer, so Many Happy Returns of the day, Kuya!

As a suprise Christmas present, Him Indoors gave me two tickets for the opera. Of course, I took him with me. It was “La Boheme” by Puccini. The opera was great – Mimi, Rodolfo, Marcelo and Muzetta – they were all brilliant. I ended up in tears when Mimi died. A great night, indeed!

Our cross trainer has just arrived. Him Indoors assembled it and we started using it. Wish us good luck, we promise to use it while watching telly.

I love shopping! I shop till I drop… anyway, first time this year and I was overwhelmed with all the sales in town. Didn’t know what to buy, instead just enjoyed window shopping. Him Indoors has just had a sigh of relief!

Happy to take part in many blogging challenges this month 🙂

in three weeks’ time, I’ll be off to the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore and Cambodia – can’t wait!

after the snow last week, it has been quite mild here in Bavaria

Mini has just passed its TUV – so here’s to two more years of driving Mini (my more than 10 year old car)

Him Indoors and I are spending a lot of our time in the kitchen experimenting with different sorts of recipes – Indian, Italian, Asian

Here’s wishing you all a lovely weekend and a great week ahead!

How do you plan on changing/not changing for the New Year?
I think I’ll stick to what I am. I’ve always said I’ll try to lose weight by going to the gym more, eating less, not drinking alcohol, not eating sweets and so on and so. Every year was the same, starting with the good intention, then waning as the year goes on. So for the New Year, I could only hope that I would be able to do so, but no pressure. I’ll do what I can. That’s fair enough, right?

Are you a resolution maker or breaker?
More of a breaker, so I will not have any resolution for the New Year.

Do you have big plans for the New Year? Travel? Moving residences? Addition to the family?
2016 is a great year for us. We’re celebrating our 30 years wedding anniversary – yay! We’re travelling to the Philippines, Singapore and Cambodia the whole of February, even though our anniversary is in June. Well, February is a good month for our holiday, as probably we’d have enough of the cold weather here in Bavaria and in the Far East, monsoon season is over. Then, come May is the wedding of HRH the son and his beautiful K in the UK. My relatives all over the world will be able to come – sister from Canada, mother from the Philippines, us from Germany, all their friends from different universities in the UK, Germany and Ireland. Then, in August, we’re doing it again in India, where K comes from originally. Brother-in-law and family from Singapore and the one from York will be able to join us. Really, really looking forward to the New Year!

Big career change?
Not really. I’m happy with what I’m doing, being a freelance English trainer/teacher.

Do you write stories? Poetry? How are your characters/plots changing? Do they make resolutions?
Yes, I write short stories and poetry, but I don’t know if/when/how my characters/plots are changing. I don’t think they make resolutions.

Plan on writing something completely different in 2016 than what you normally write? Give us an excerpt of what you might have planned.
No plan as of yet, we just have to wait and see.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone!
