Why do I write?

Why do I write, is the question
I guess I just do it for fun
To test myself how I can run
Lots of action, lots of action

Expressing my thoughts and musing
Conveying, asking and babbling
And checking out what I can bring
It’s a great world, it’s a great world*

* The monotetra is a new poetic form developed by Michael Walker. Each stanza contains four lines in monorhyme. Each line is in tetrameter (four metrical feet) for a total of eight syllables. What makes the monotetra so powerful as a poetic form, is that the last line contains two metrical feet, repeated. It can have as few as one or two stanzas, or as many as desired.

Stanza Structure:

Line 1: 8 syllables; A1
Line 2: 8 syllables; A2
Line 3: 8 syllables; A3
Line 4: 4 syllables, repeated; A4, A4

Q is for Quatern

A Quatern is a sixteen line French form composed of four quatrains. It is similar to the Kyrielle and the Retourne. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The first line of stanza one is the second line of stanza two, third line of stanza three, and fourth line of stanza four. A quatern has eight syllables per line. It does not have to be iambic or follow a set rhyme scheme.

How come we have some endless quest?
Or do we walk in crooked lines?
When do we see some phantom truths?
When can we know if journey ends?

Can the spirit of the ground talk?
How come we have some endless quest?
Some questions I need the answer
Never ending questions from me

If I kiss you, is that enough?
And if I want to be with you?
How come we have some endless quest?
Together we can search the truth

Questions, questions, lots of questions
Life would be boring if we don’t
It’s like a puzzle to be solved
How come we have some endless quest?

Q Is For Questions – #AtoZChallenge

Questions, questions, lots of questions
About life, about love, about the universe
Who am I? Where am I? What do I do here?
Am I here at all? What do I want in life?
Questions, questions, lots of questions
Do I have some answers to my questions?
Why do I even bother asking? Why oh why?
Perhaps we are meant to asked or to think
Otherwise we’ll be like robots, just doing
What they were programmed to do
Like a child with a never ending questions
We ask when we don’t know the answers
We’re curious about things, about life
And so we shouldn’t stop asking questions
Questions, questions, lots of questions
