SONNET OF AUTUMN
by Charles Baudelaire
THEY say to me, thy clear and crystal eyes:
“Why dost thou love me so, strange lover mine?”
Be sweet, be still! My heart and soul despise
All save that antique brute-like faith of thine;
And will not bare the secret of their shame
To thee whose hand soothes me to slumbers long,
Nor their black legend write for thee in flame!
Passion I hate, a spirit does me wrong.
Let us love gently. Love, from his retreat,
Ambushed and shadowy, bends his fatal bow,
And I too well his ancient arrows know:
Crime, horror, folly. O pale marguerite,
Thou art as I, a bright sun fallen low,
O my so white, my so cold Marguerite.

We had a trip to Hundred Islands and its home, Alaminos City when I was in the Philippines. The trip itself was a great diversion from the hustle and bustle of the busy, urban life. The rice paddies, azure sea and the rustic and peaceful lifestyle were refreshing as we made our way to Alaminos City. And upon arrival, we savoured the city’s unique and dynamic spirit, friendly atmosphere and especially, the beauty and adventure that lies in the hundred wonders that is Hundred Islands. The islands were believed to be about two million years old. They were actually ancient corals that extend well inland, in an area previously comprising the seabed of an ancient sea. The lowering of the sea level have exposed them to the surface. The peculiar “mushroom-like” shapes of some of the islands were caused by the eroding actions of the ocean waves.

Hi everyone. Last weekend, we celebrated our Pearl Anniversary and we had fine dining at Das Kranzbach. We dined for two nights and here are some of the luxuries in life that we’ve tasted. They were all exquisite!
These were our starters.
Our main meals.
Our desserts.

To celebrate our Pearl Anniversary and Him Indoors’ birthday, we went to Das Kranzbach for the long weekend. We had a great time! This upscale spa retreat set in a 1915 country house with an annex is 16 km from Partnach Gorge and 15.9 km from Bavarian Zugspitze mountain railway.
For some reason, they upgraded us. We were given a biggish room on the top floor of Mary Portman house. In the main house, the stylish rooms are furnished in a modern, Arts and Crafts style, and feature free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. Annex rooms add balconies and modern pine furnishings. Quirky treehouse and a 1915 gatehouse suites are also available. The weather was nice so we were able to walk to Elmau and to Fernchensee Lake.
Breakfast and dinner are included and served in the chic restaurant, which features a terrace with mountain views. The day spa includes indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, steam baths and treatment rooms, in addition to yoga and hiking.

As the wind blows, trees sway!

The Sound of the Trees
by Robert Frost
I wonder about the trees.
Why do we wish to bear
Forever the noise of these
More than another noise
So close to our dwelling place?
We suffer them by the day
Till we lose all measure of pace,
And fixity in our joys,
And acquire a listening air.
They are that that talks of going
But never gets away;
And that talks no less for knowing,
As it grows wiser and older,
That now it means to stay.
My feet tug at the floor
And my head sways to my shoulder
Sometimes when I watch trees sway,
From the window or the door.
I shall set forth for somewhere,
I shall make the reckless choice
Some day when they are in voice
And tossing so as to scare
The white clouds over them on.
I shall have less to say,
But I shall be gone.
