Happy Sunday everyone!

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday! I thought I would never see you again, or blog for that matter. For a couple of days, I wasn’t able to access my blog site, can’t put new post, can’t read the other posts, can’t do anything…. wrote to wordpress and they said it appears that I have reached the maximum space provided and I should upgrade to Business plan, which is more expensive than the Premium plan that I have, and I have just renewed that Premium plan. Still unresolved, but I’m happy that I’m back to be with you all again.

Anyway, it’s a cold Sunday morning here in Bavaria. It has been raining the past couple of days, but never mind, I’m sharing with you some photos (bits and pieces of the past, as I cannot post any new photo). Cheers for now and enjoy your Sunday!

Casa Batlló

Casa Batlló, built between 1904 and 1906 in the heart of the city of Barcelona, is the most emblematic work of the brilliant Catalan architect.

Gaudí gave Casa Batlló a facade that is original, fantastical and full of imagination. He replaced the original facade with a new composition of stone and glass. He ordered the external walls to be redesigned to give them a wavy shape, which was then plastered with lime mortar and covered with a mosaic of fragments of coloured glass and ceramic discs.

At the top of the facade, the roof is in the shape of an animal’s back with large iridescent scales. The spine which forms the ornamental top is composed of huge spherical pieces of masonry in colours which change as you move along the roof-tree from one end to the other.

The long gallery of the main suite, the Noble Floor, overlooking Passeig de Gràcia, is composed of wooden-framed windows which are opened and closed by raising and lowering using counterweights. They are unusual in that there are no jambs or mullions, so that it is possible to raise all of the window panes and have a continuous panoramic opening running the full width of the room.

On the level of the ground floor, the Noble Floor and the first floor, the facade includes slender pillars of Montjuic stone which form bone-like shapes and are decorated with typically modernist floral designs.

The balcony railings in the shape of masks are made of wrought iron cast in a single piece and are secured by two anchor points in such a way that the balconies partly project outwards.

As a whole, the facade is a joyful and allegorical representation, full of organic elements and colours and charged with symbolism, a wonderful spectacle in the city which inspires the most sublime sentiments in all those who gaze upon it. The house is a dialogue between light and colour.

Squash or pumpkin?

Well, to keep it simple, pumpkin is one type of squash and squash generally refers to four species of genus cucurbita, including the species to which pumpkin belongs. So, to make it clearer, both squash and pumpkin belong to the same family (the cucurbitaceae). A pumpkin is a type of squash.

Local – Photo Challenge

Michaeligarten in Ostpark is our favourite beer garden and spend most of our Sundays here. The view on the little lake is stunning, we usually sit in the shadow under trees but there also plenty of sunny places. It’s just 15 to 20 minutes bike ride from our place, so it’s very convenient.

Travel theme: Enlightened

Since Thou Hast Given Me This Good Hope, O God
by Robert Louis Stevenson

SINCE thou hast given me this good hope, O God,
That while my footsteps tread the flowery sod
And the great woods embower me, and white dawn
And purple even sweetly lead me on
From day to day, and night to night, O God,
My life shall no wise miss the light of love;
But ever climbing, climb above
Man’s one poor star, man’s supine lands,
Into the azure steadfastness of death,
My life shall no wise lack the light of love,
My hands not lack the loving touch of hands;
But day by day, while yet I draw my breath,
And day by day, unto my last of years,
I shall be one that has a perfect friend.
Her heart shall taste my laughter and my tears,
And her kind eyes shall lead me to the end.

Saying sorry

174-09-september-25th-2016

The noise was Pauline opening the door, blue dawn light outlining the frayed edges of her hair. She picked some flowers in the garden. Lilies, daffodils, roses and dahlias. The scents made her happy. Alec is still asleep on the bed, breathing softly. Last night’s bickering was still on her mind. She shouldn’t have said those words. It was a signal that they should try hard not to be separated. That they should hear and understand what the other was saying. She came in and took her shoes off. She put the flowers in a vase and placed them on the tray. Then she started brewing some coffee and making some breakfast. A nice breakfast in bed for Alec to say sorry. She couldn’t wait for him to wake up.

#MySundayPhoto, Seasons and My City

SONNET OF AUTUMN
by Charles Baudelaire

THEY say to me, thy clear and crystal eyes:
“Why dost thou love me so, strange lover mine?”
Be sweet, be still! My heart and soul despise
All save that antique brute-like faith of thine;

And will not bare the secret of their shame
To thee whose hand soothes me to slumbers long,
Nor their black legend write for thee in flame!
Passion I hate, a spirit does me wrong.

Let us love gently. Love, from his retreat,
Ambushed and shadowy, bends his fatal bow,
And I too well his ancient arrows know:

Crime, horror, folly. O pale marguerite,
Thou art as I, a bright sun fallen low,
O my so white, my so cold Marguerite.

Sunday Photo Fiction – Boys!

172-09-september-11th-2016

“die, you ###, die!”

“quick, here, before they start again!”

“bang, strike, ouch, smack!”

The noise from the living room was full of screaming boys, fighting like crazy with their toy soldiers, power rangers, ninja turtles, avengers. Or they fought among themselves. They’ve gone through a lot of heroes and villains. And when they were not there, they were outside playing football or just throwing balls around. The energy was immense, and of course, good old Mum has to give them never ending snacks and drinks. And taxiing to their games, football, rugby, karate, kung-fu, swimming, guitar and piano lessons, overnight stay with friends. Sometimes, friends came over for barbeque and stayed the night, too. Life was full of activities then. Now, they’re all gone, having their own lives somewhere. I miss them.

The Stream – Sunday Photo Fiction

THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from puzzle books, of which Jae Rose is fond: shape, milk, feet, play, bird, car, dirt, love, brick, theme, diary, pumpkin

My feet brought me to this dirt
Don’t know why it gives me comfort
A creek where no one swims
Is this society’s urban paradigm?

No children playing
Nor dogs barking
Even birds have departed
All we see is flood and mud

People left their rubbish
After eating chips with fish
Milk cartons and bricks
Just to get their kicks

Sometimes even shopping carts
Development thwarted
Left my car, diary not so full
When my mind so roomful

Time to think, to reflect
Perhaps there’s a new prospect
On love, work and other themes
While I’m walking by the stream
