Lord We Thank You by Raymond A. Foss

Lord, We thank you for this day,
for the joy of the morning,
the love of this family, waking from slumber
in this house, this home you have provided,
going out into the world, to college, to school,
to work, into the world, not of this world,
for you have touched our hearts and our lives,
have cleaned some of the grime of this life,
some of our scar tissue, to give us peace.
Grant us peace this day Lord, watch over us
be with us on the path you have laid before us
this day we pray our creator and sustainer
help us focus on what we must do today,
help us be satisfied, gratified, with what we do
in your name today Lord.
Give us strength for today and rest tonight Lord
so we may do your will and your work
today and the rest of our lives as individuals
as a family in your name
Amen

Hello everyone! Santa came early for Him Indoors – he’s got a new car – yay!!! We got it yesterday and this weekend, we are planning to drive to Tegernsee, which is a town in the Miesbach district of Bavaria, Germany. It is located on the shore of Tegernsee lake, at an elevation of 747 m above sea level. The town has its origins in the Tegernsee Abbey, which was founded in 746. Looking forward to test driving the new jag.

Got a bit of a mishap today. This morning, I woke up thinking I was superwoman and started tidying up, washing clothes, sorting stuff, etc before I went to work. I put the washing on, thinking that when I get home, I’ll be able to hang them to dry. Me, being me, forgot to empty the pockets before putting them in the machine. It just so happen that Him Indoors’ mobile phone was still in his trousers, so it has been washed. Needless to say, the phone was useless so I went to town to buy him a new one (before he got home from work). Got him a new phone and now he’s very happy with his new toy.

It has been relatively warm in Bavaria, like spring, so that’s my third smile, a lovely weather, where we can walk around the village, and glad that winter decided to come a little bit later or has given us a week of sunny weather. We just have to wait for next week, might be another story. Cheers everyone and enjoy your day/week.

What made you smile this week?

OBW 174 ~ Worn

Song: Memory, hither come
by William Blake

Memory, hither come,
And tune your merry notes;
And, while upon the wind
Your music floats,

I’ll pore upon the stream
Where sighing lovers dream,
And fish for fancies as they pass
Within the watery glass.

I’ll drink of the clear stream,
And hear the linnet’s song;
And there I’ll lie and dream
The day along:

And, when night comes, I’ll go
To places fit for woe,
Walking along the darken’d valley
With silent Melancholy.

What are you thankful for today?

I am thankful for things worn and old, like the pocket watch that was passed on to the son by his greatgrandfather, historical places we have been, old photographs, memories that stays in our hearts.

Home Thoughts
by Claude McKay

Oh something just now must be happening there!
That suddenly and quiveringly here,
Amid the city’s noises, I must think
Of mangoes leaning o’er the river’s brink,
And dexterous Davie climbing high above,
The gold fruits ebon-speckled to remove,
And toss them quickly in the tangled mass
Of wis-wis twisted round the guinea grass;
And Cyril coming through the bramble-track
A prize bunch of bananas on his back;
And Georgie–none could ever dive like him–
Throwing his scanty clothes off for a swim;
And schoolboys, from Bridge-tunnel going home,
Watching the waters downward dash and foam.
This is no daytime dream, there’s something in it,
Oh something’s happening there this very minute!

What are you thankful for today?

I am thankful for our home, home sweet home!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday! I thought I would never see you again, or blog for that matter. For a couple of days, I wasn’t able to access my blog site, can’t put new post, can’t read the other posts, can’t do anything…. wrote to wordpress and they said it appears that I have reached the maximum space provided and I should upgrade to Business plan, which is more expensive than the Premium plan that I have, and I have just renewed that Premium plan. Still unresolved, but I’m happy that I’m back to be with you all again.

Anyway, it’s a cold Sunday morning here in Bavaria. It has been raining the past couple of days, but never mind, I’m sharing with you some photos (bits and pieces of the past, as I cannot post any new photo). Cheers for now and enjoy your Sunday!

Poetics: Our garden through the years

garden full of life
of butterflies and bees
the scents of flowers

look at the garden
peace and tranquility
wonderful feeling

garden through the years
canvas of memories
brings us joy and hope

IMGP1853

the English Garden
taking clothes off in summer
the feeling of freedom

All winter long the garden is cold and bare
With the coming of spring, everywhere is lovely
Trees unfold their leaves, flowers bloom with flair
Apples blossom, all white and pure with such beauty
And the smell of wonderful rain and freshly cut grass
Don’t forget the symphony of spring with birds singing
The spring peepers chirping call chorus with such class
The dandelions, lilacs, tulips, hyacinths, all blooming

Remembering Dad on his birthday

years
have passed
saw you last
still have tears
the space you left was vast
today we’re remembering you
memories still in our hearts as we grew
had you were here we’d celebrate it with our cheers
we miss your voice, your cooking, that is true
your kindness, your belly, that, too
it could still be a blast
for what was due
love the past
went fast
cheers!

Ten Things of Thankful 178 (Election Week Thankfuls)

Hello everyone! Hope you are all fine. Cold here in Bavaria, had some snow in the morning, now melted. Him Indoors and I are both coughing like crazy, but we’re glad it’s the weekend, we can relax and hopefully, get better. Ten things of thankful, yes, I’ve got loads to be grateful.

Starting with my Mom. For three weeks, she didn’t have any companion to assist her in the house. Her PA left without saying anything and there was my mother, waiting for her until she rang and said, she didn’t want to return anymore. So panic, panic, everyone asking around if they knew anyone who could help and voila! Found one. One of the nieces of my friend, so we sent her some airfare ticket from the province to come to Manila. Happy with that result.

Aurora is my mother’s name
Daybreak she came
Such a beauty
Out in the sea

Creating an aura of hope
She always cope
Always has been
Serves with a grin

And in our lives she’s the centre
Perfumed with myrrh
The love she gives
Superlative!

HRH the son and his beautiful bride are happy on their new place/new town. She started with her PhD, he is volunteering in a charity foundation for three months and then he’ll try to look for a job next year. Good luck to them.

Yesterday, we had a phone call from the in-laws. He was taken to the hospital for some kidney stones. He’s back now, was given some medicine and asked to wait. He goes back in two weeks to be scanned and see what the next procedure is. Hope it works and he gets better so they can come here for Christmas.

Thankful for freedom and all men and women, generations after generations, all over the world, who sacrificed their lives to give us our freedom.

Thankful for my job, I’m still enjoying it and I still see it as my hobby.

Thankful for the memories. It was my Mom’s birthday last week and next week, it would be my Dad’s, bless his soul. We miss him.

Thankful for the autumn this year, now welcoming winter.

I woke up this morning, the air was fresh, cool breeze and dark time. Fog all over our garden, children on their bikes, waiting for each other to go to school. Summer is over, children are cheerful with their back packs. The wind whispering as crispy leaves fall from trees, heaps of gold, brown and red on the ground. It’s also time for harvest, our grapes by our front door and the two apple trees at the back. There was not a lot of harvest this year, enough to stew the apples for apple crumble and pies, and the grapes for some juice. We are very grateful for the produce. It’s also the time to take some of our plants, like olives, banana and palm plants in the house, as well as our pet tortoises. No more garden paradise for them. They are staying in with us.
