Carpe Diem #756 summer passing

a cool wind
summer passes
before it begins

late summer
even hotter by the breath
of dragonflies

the sadness of knowing
days grow shorter

© Jane Reichhold

between summer flowers
dreaming of next summer

tears shed
on my naked body …
summer is passing

clear sky, bright day
having ice-cream and chatting
summer is here

time to be with friends
fun swimming by the lake
and having picnic

first day of summer
the sea asked to be admired
nature’s gift to us

refreshingly good
joy of being in water
sunset by the sea

Ecce Homo Sculpture Picture It & Write!

UK 033

The last time we were in Coventry Cathedral, I couldn’t stop myself from staring at this sculpture, the Ecce Homo Sculpture. I’ve googled about it and found out it was carved by Sir Jacob Epstein during 1934-5 from Subleco marble and was given to Coventry Cathedral. Ecce Homo represents Christ before Pilate with his hands bound and a crown of thorns upon his head. Jesus Christ was presented to a hostile crowd shortly before his Crucifixion.

The Ecce Homo Sculpture wasn’t as dainty as the other sculptures but it definitely got its own characteristics – strong and determined. I quite like it. Made me think about the sacrifices that our Lord had done for our sins. That He would withstand all the humiliation and pain just to redeem us from our sins.

I think about what the message or sculpture was telling us. That we should be brave enough to withstand any challenge and difficulties. That we shouldn’t just be thinking about ourselves but of the others, too. That we should be grateful for all the blessing that was given to us. Have a nice day everyone and look after yourselves ❤

Daily Prompt – Happily Ever After

“And they lived happily ever after.” Think about this line for a few minutes. Are you living happily ever after? If not, what will it take for you to get there?

How I love thee
I trust you completely
My rock, my shoulder, my strength

Indeed we are together
Now and forever, I hope
Devoted to each other
Over the moon and far away
Or I’m lost without you
Reminiscing the experience we share
Super duper they are and really appreciate them

I knocked on his door
an English man opened it
you’ve got to help me
and he helped me that morning
everything went well

Me on second floor
and him on the 6th floor
joy in that building
we had parties every night
apprenticeship was quite fun

and that was the start
of chemistry in motion
action, reaction
we’ve come from diff’rent cultures
but it wasn’t a problem

Is there humour in love?
I just have to ask
Of course, there is
Otherwise, what else is there?
If we cannot laugh together
To the simple things we have
Then why take things seriously?
Laughter is the best medicine
Ask your doctor, he’ll verify
For when I first met you
You made me laugh
And I thought you’re so witty
They’re not slapstick jokes
They’re very clever and fun

Are there reasons in love?
What kind of reasons?
Of why we love each other?
That’s always a mystery
Like two opposite poles
They attract each other
Two different cultures
Different races & likes
Different hobbies
They don’t matter much
Two hearts, one soul
That’s the important thing

I love you for all these
The flowers you plant for me
The meal you cook for me
The places we see together
The experiences we share
The little fights, the make-ups
The arguments, the debates
You’re keeping me on my toes
Of what is important in life
In sickness – we’ve got that
We looked after each other
Even when the other one is miserable
We carried on looking after each one
And in health – hooray for that!

HRH the Son – Five Minute Friday : Gift

HRH the son is the best gift we’ve ever had. From the time he was born and now at 23, he’s still our precious one, and the only one. We’re always proud of him and we wish him all the best. Cheers, our son!

HRH the son

The time really goes so fast
We can still remember all the years
His first words that gave us cheers
The first time he crawls and walks
The first time he rode his bicycle
His first day of school with a big bag
Karate, music, choir, kung-fu, guitar
When we reminisce them they bring tears

snow 023

From primary years to senior years
He was showing some independence
Lots of friends, loves Maths and Science
Learns to drive, happy to have his license
Friends stayed overnight and had fun
Activities in school, soon time to leave
To another country to have his degree
We surely miss him but we had to let him go

Happy we all are
When the son rang and said
She said yes and soon they be wed
Gave her a charming sapphire ring
Lovely in her hands so they go-ahead
Eventually they said, there’s no rush
They both have to finish their Masters
Find a job, get a house, plan their future

We are happy, Him Indoor and I
We can feel the son is so happy
We are happy he found his Sweetie
She’s very lovely, we all agree
They can plan their future, all coolly
We’re happy to share with you all
Something positive and exciting
The world is wonderful and brightly

Ten Things of Thankful #102

Hello everyone! Hope you’re all OK. Lots of things to be thankful about…

I cooked adobo! It’s one of my favourite dishes from the Philippines. The main ingredients are soy sauce, vinegar and garlic. The others, you could make it up, or put the ones you like. Here’s my version. Ingredients: chicken, garlic, ginger, onions, mushrooms, soy sauce, vinegar, a pinch of sugar, bay leaves, whole peppers, salt to taste. 1 Put all ingredients together and marinate them with soy sauce and vinegar, leave them in the fridge for a couple of hours. 2 Fry the chicken with some oil until brown on both sides. 3 Put the rest of the marinated ingredients, let them boil and turn the heat down a bit, simmer them. 4 Cook slowly until done. Best serve with rice and green peas. 5 And of course, a nice bottle of chardonnay. Cheers! 6

Yesterday was a sunny day, thank you! Met my friend in town and had some tilapia with some vegetables. 7

Then, walked around town and took lots of photos of our street scenes. 14
8 11 the buskers, musicians, people sitting around, etc. And a door within a door and the scene behind the door. 13

I’m also grateful for the three awards I was nominated by fellow bloggers. Thanks a bunch! I love you all to bits! Cheers!

Blue Skies in Town – Five Minute Friday – Blue

sky3 sky1 sky4

2015 014 shadowed sky5

Blue skies in town
Happy as a clown
Met my friend for lunch
Actually more like a brunch
Had sashimi and green tea
Small Japanese kiosk in the alley
That was delightful
Best one, not to be bashful
Walked around town
In easy fashion, slowdown
Pedestrian zone, no cars
Lots of bars and bazaars
Street scenes were fun
Was able to strike a bargain
Musicians, artists, vendors
Ladies met some bachelors
People walking, eating, smiling
Bonding, chuckling, biking, bumming
Sitting down, chatting, enjoying the sun
Pretended I bought a lottery ticket and won
