Music Prompt # 59 ‘B.o.B – Airplanes’ ft. Hayley Williams and Eminem.

Paradelle of Wishes

I wish I may, I wish I can make a wish
I wish I may, I wish I can make a wish
To be able to fly like a bird, see the world
To be able to fly like a bird, see the world
I wish I may make a wish, see the world
To be able to fly like a bird, I wish I may

No pain, no heartache, no misunderstanding
No pain, no heartache, no misunderstanding
People are sympathetic and help each other
People are sympathetic and help each other
No pain, no heartache, people help each other
No misunderstanding, people are sympathetic

A big smile for each one, to start the day
A big smile for each one, to start the day
“Pay kindness forward” and spread peace
“Pay kindness forward” and spread peace
A big smile for each one and spread peace
“Pay kindness forward” to start the day

I wish I may, “pay kindness forward”
To be able to fly like a bird and spread peace
No pain, no heartache, a big smile for each one
No misunderstanding, people are sympathetic
“Pay kindness forward” and help each other
Make a wish: spread peace and help each other*

* The Paradell Structure

First Three Stanzas:
The first two lines as well as the third and fourth lines of the first three stanzas must be the same (repeat). Where it begins to get difficult and become more of a poetic puzzle is when reaching fifth and sixth lines. These lines must contain all the words from the preceding four lines within the stanza using them only once to form completely new lines.

Last Stanza:
For the most difficult piece of this poetic puzzle, the final stanza of the paradelle does not repeat like the preceding stanzas, rather the final six lines must contain every word from the first three stanzas, and only those words, again using them only once to form completely new lines.

The Design is simple:
Stanza 1: 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 4
Stanza 2: 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 8
Stanza 3: 9, 9, 10, 10, 11, 12
Stanza 4: 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18

Poetics: Wishful Thinking

when you wish for something, then
follow your footsteps
or your instinct, to be sure
reflect on concepts

or follow someone who’s great
for inspiration
be full of enthusiasm
and of course, have fun

stars in the sky
gather them and make a wish
the stars smile

Now you see me, now you don’t
Will you miss me if I’m absent?
Camouflaged perfectly well
Putting the matter in a nutshell

A normal being going through life
Will I see you in our afterlife?
The crickets chirped tediously
A caterpillar wanted to be free

A wasp embedded in an amber
A chameleon changing its colour
I’m falling on the edge of the abyss
I’m muddled but couldn’t give it a miss

My flesh is weak and I’m drifting away
I acted like a fool and I was led astray
It was a tame affair but still hidden
What was done couldn’t be undone

A secret so to speak in the mist of tides
I wish I could just take them in strides
From a poppy seed to certain flings
Nothing to whirl and have that strut

On both mind and body it takes its toll
Love soars from earth to infinity
For love of love, or heart’s solitude
Who cry for shadow and cannot tell

Begrudge I come with a plea
Never a sunny day for a feud
Tried to stifle the thoughts
Life is full of different plots

I wish I were
A doctor when I was ten
With stethoscope and
Always wearing something white
Very smart and cool
But things have changed as I grew
I’ve travelled instead
To Europe and America
I met Him Indoors
Chemistry all the way
Action and reaction
We got married instead
Now I teach English
And I love the change

Mga Habilin ni Tatay

mga habilin ni tatay
magpakabait daw ako
mabait na anak, kapatid, asawa
maging masipag
na kaya kong marating ang lahat
huwag kalimutan kung saan ako galing
magpasalamat sa mga biyaya
tanggapin kung ano ang pinagkaloob

my father’s last will
that I should behave
be a good daughter, sister and wife
that I should work hard
and I could reach anything
that I should be humble
don’t forget where I came from
be grateful for all the blessings
and accept what was given totally

20 Days of Chill: If I had a million dollars … (Day 14)

If I had a million dollars, I’d travel the world
To some exotic and exciting countries as I swirled
I’d buy a new Jag for Him and a Mini for me
We’d ski and we’d go on our shopping spree
I’d buy the son and his K their first house
One by the sea and a vital lighthouse
That’s it from me and I’d be happy
Wish me luck and that’s the key

Sankt Nikolaus

The 6th of December and Ben (8) and Clara (6) were waiting for Sankt Nikolaus to come to their house. There were also 6 children from their neighbourhood. They were promised that Sankt Nikolaus with his angel were coming to give them presents. They were all excited. Ben and Clara’s mother, Sabine had booked a “Sankt Nikolaus and an angel” to make her children and their friends happy. She paid 200 euros for a half an hour appearance and giving of gifts. She also prepared some Christmas cookies which they had baked on the first of December. The first candle for Advent had also been lit.

There was a knock on their door. The children couldn’t contain their excitement. The angel entered first – wearing a cheap paper-made wings, white blouse and black pair of jeans and black trainers. Surely, angels don’t come like this! The children were expecting a serene all-white angel with proper wings, curly hair and beautiful face, instead of this pouting teen-ager. Then, they heard a “ho, ho, ho” from “Sankt Nikolaus” – a thin Sankt Nikolaus, not wearing a red bishop costume and his headgear, but instead a cheap version of Santa Claus outfit. Again, the children were disappointed. Surely, Sankt Nikolaus doesn’t look like this!

Prompt Stomp- Week 12

How do you plan on changing/not changing for the New Year?
I think I’ll stick to what I am. I’ve always said I’ll try to lose weight by going to the gym more, eating less, not drinking alcohol, not eating sweets and so on and so. Every year was the same, starting with the good intention, then waning as the year goes on. So for the New Year, I could only hope that I would be able to do so, but no pressure. I’ll do what I can. That’s fair enough, right?

Are you a resolution maker or breaker?
More of a breaker, so I will not have any resolution for the New Year.

Do you have big plans for the New Year? Travel? Moving residences? Addition to the family?
2016 is a great year for us. We’re celebrating our 30 years wedding anniversary – yay! We’re travelling to the Philippines, Singapore and Cambodia the whole of February, even though our anniversary is in June. Well, February is a good month for our holiday, as probably we’d have enough of the cold weather here in Bavaria and in the Far East, monsoon season is over. Then, come May is the wedding of HRH the son and his beautiful K in the UK. My relatives all over the world will be able to come – sister from Canada, mother from the Philippines, us from Germany, all their friends from different universities in the UK, Germany and Ireland. Then, in August, we’re doing it again in India, where K comes from originally. Brother-in-law and family from Singapore and the one from York will be able to join us. Really, really looking forward to the New Year!

Big career change?
Not really. I’m happy with what I’m doing, being a freelance English trainer/teacher.

Do you write stories? Poetry? How are your characters/plots changing? Do they make resolutions?
Yes, I write short stories and poetry, but I don’t know if/when/how my characters/plots are changing. I don’t think they make resolutions.

Plan on writing something completely different in 2016 than what you normally write? Give us an excerpt of what you might have planned.
No plan as of yet, we just have to wait and see.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone!

Wish I Was Home For Christmas

Wish I was home for Christmas
The squad is down to bareness
Wish I was there playing my drums
Having fun with family and chums
Eating minced pies and singing carols
Not here fighting battles after battles
Wish I had the power to make people think
Reflect before we’re dead in a blink
That killing one another was not the answer
I insist that my voice be heard, and the others
Air out some differences then find a solution
Let’s not be blind to one another’s needs
In an ideal world, we’re threading and spinning
Until there’s peace and hope for everybody
