Photo Blogging Challenge (October 2016): Water

october-results

On our recent trip to Barcelona, we also went to Girona and that’s where my 5 photos came from. Girona is a city in Spain’s northeastern Catalonia region, beside the River Onyar. It’s known for its medieval architecture, walled Old Quarter (Barri Vell) and the Roman remains of the Força Vella fortress. Landscaped gardens line the Passeig Arqueològic, a walkway following the Old Quarter’s medieval walls, which include watchtowers with sweeping views.

Sailing – Photo Challenge #135

Sailing along the river
Shiver, we two lovers!
When our feelings overflow
We met the Queen, she said hello
Like a songbird with pointed wings
The wind echoes our souls’ soft rings
White as the glimmer of a retreating sail
Terry Waite’s free, yet we can’t make bail
Some enthralled land we don’t know where
We questioned out loud: “what might live in there?”
And each place we see an experience to share
Or so it may seem, when they are unaware
We came back as happy as can be
Go forth, multiple and plunder thee

Snorkelling – Flash Fiction for the Purposeful Practitioner- 2016 Week #41

Great fun to be under the sea
Swimming with the fish and algae
Clear azure sea is amazing
Such adventure this snorkelling

Coral reef is another world
It’s like being in a dream world
I can swim for hours, that’s the thing
Such adventure this snorkelling

Saw a school of fish and turtle
Swimming with them is so blissful
Such a wonderful life, floating
Such adventure this snorkelling

Great fun to be under the sea
Such adventure this snorkelling

snorkelling under the sea
deep silence of nature
admiring life down under
fishes and corals
sharing experience
happy with
you!

Corn field, pond and chicken curry

*three things that make me smile: an exercise in gratitude – feel free to steal this idea with wild abandon and fill your blog with the happy*

Hello everyone! Hope you’re all fine. A real autumn day here, cool but sunny. Yesterday it was raining. Can’t complain though, the autumn leaves are falling, our tortoises are inside now and they are making such a noise!

dsc02495
we went for a walk this afternoon and this corn field is just across our street

dsc02497
love the reflection of the trees and houses in the pond

dsc02502
our meal for tonight – chicken garam masala and brocolli – delicious!

What made you smile this week?

Down by the pond

down by the pond we used to swim
not a care in the world – us kids
in our youth we were full of vim
tried to catch some fish and squids

not a care in the world – us kids
swam with our dog and carabao
tried to catch some fish and squids
then we went home for some cacao

swam with our dog and carabao
now we’ve all grown up and apart
then we went home for some cacao
and they’re all still part of my heart

now we’ve all grown up and apart
in our youth we were full of vim
and they’re all still part of my heart
down by the pond we used to swim*

* The pantoum consists of a series of quatrains rhyming ABAB in which the second and fourth lines of a quatrain recur as the first and third lines in the succeeding quatrain; each quatrain introduces a new second rhyme as BCBC, CDCD. The first line of the series recurs as the last line of the closing quatrain, and third line of the poem recurs as the second line of the closing quatrain, rhyming ZAZA.

The design is simple:

Line 1
Line 2
Line 3
Line 4

Line 5 (repeat of line 2)
Line 6
Line 7 (repeat of line 4)
Line 8

Continue with as many stanzas as you wish, but the ending stanzathen repeats the second and fourth lines of the previous stanza (as its first and third lines), and also repeats the third line of the first stanza, as its second line, and the first line of the first stanza as its fourth. So the first line of the poem is also the last.

Last stanza:

Line 2 of previous stanza
Line 3 of first stanza
Line 4 of previous stanza
Line 1 of first stanza
