Share Your World – 2016 Week 40

Why did you start blogging?

At first, I thought it’s something that would keep me busy and it’s a new challenge, also, it would be fun. And yes, 2 years later, I’m still enjoying it and I’m here to stay!

A piece of clothing you still remember?

The Indian clothing that I wore on HRH the son and his beautiful bride’s Indian wedding. All the sari and others (forgot what they’re called) are all very colourful and fun to wear.

Who are you trying to reach with your blog?

Anyone and everyone, anywhere around the world

Is there a stuffed animal in your bedroom?

None, whatsoever. When I was single, I used to have Buba, my brown bear from Switzerland when I first left the Philippines. I gave him to my son when he was young. I think he’s still somewhere in his room.

The best birthday present ever?

Got loads of great birthday presents, usually involving me and Him Indoors in Garmisch Partenkirchen, Malta, Portugal or other weekend or one-week birthday celebration.

What would surprise me about you?

Probably nothing, as I am who I am, wearing my heart on my sleeve.

What is your favourite comfort snack food?
Salt and vinegar crisps or a bar of dark chocolate

Is the paper money in your possession right now organised sequentially according to denomination and with the bills right side up and facing the same way?
Not at all organised. They were popped in and out of the wallet as they came.

If you were a mouse in your house in the evening, what would you see your family doing?
We’re in the kitchen preparing and cooking our dinner, then in the dining room for the meal, complete with a nice bottle of white wine. Him Indoors goes upstairs to watch TV, while I do a bit of blogging before I join him to watch the news or Big Bang Theory. Some nights we’re watching some old dvds if there’s nothing worth watching on TV. We’re both on comfortable sofas and eventually fall asleep.

Would you rather not be able to read or not be able to speak?
Not be able to speak – I read a lot and I just love reading.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
We have just got back from our trip to India for HRH the son and his beautiful bride’s Hindu wedding, followed by road trips to the south of India. We had a great time!
A friend from Canada is coming to visit us on Thursday. She’s with her cousin at the moment and they drive here. On Saturday we’re invited for a dinner. Looking forward to it.

What is your favourite part of the town/city you live in?  And what Country do you live? I live in Munich, Germany and I love it – the city, shops, people, mountains, parks, museums, theatres, cinemas, restaurants, etc. We can cycle in the summer and ski in the winter.

Would you rather wear clown shoes every day or a clown wig every day? I’m really not keen of wearing either one, but if I have to choose, probably clown shoes.

Which way does the toilet paper roll go? Over or under? Over.

What do you do to make a living or during the day?  If you are retired what mostly occupies your day? Or if you are a student what are you studying? I’m a freelance English teacher/trainer so I can pick and choose when and where I teach, mostly in companies and language schools.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? I was in the UK last week to visit my mother and brother and my brother’s kids. We had a great time bonding. My mother goes back to the Philippines in two weeks’ time.

What is the perfect pizza?
home-made pizza freshly prepared pizza
We usually make our own pizza, with lots of different things in it – tomatoes, cheese, pepperoni, salami, ham, mushrooms, pineapple, onions, etc. We usually slice and chop the ingredients and put whatever we fancy on our side of the pizza. It’s really delicious!

What is your earliest memory?
cute-baby-boy-newborn-pictures-newborn-baby-4

One of the earliest memories I had was the time when my sister was born. I was three, my big brother was four and we were waiting in the other room, my father was pacing up and down. Until we heard the midwife (my aunt) said: “it’s a girl!” We all rushed in the room, we saw some blood and the baby crying and my mom was on the floor. My aunt told us to “go away, we’re not ready yet.”

My sister was born
My brother and I waited
Then we heard her cry

What was the last photo you took with your phone?

20160704_131346

We were walking in Berlin and we found this Filipino street food restaurant. We stopped to have our lunch. We had some spring rolls, sinigang soup and longganisa hamburger, followed by halo-halo. We had a good time.

Have you ever danced in the rain?

2ea662c26bdb13a6465603f5181835bf

Most of the time, when I was young in the Philippines. It was warm rain and we always had fun playing and dancing in the rain.

What is the longest you have gone without sleep?

I really cannot remember. I love my sleep and I sleep well, so probably very seldom that I’ve stayed awake for a long time and not gone to sleep.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Last week was back to normal routine after our trip to Berlin.

In two weeks’ time, I’m off again and looking forward to it. Two weeks in the UK to visit my mother who’s still there with my brother after my son’s wedding in May. She’s flying back to the Philippines in August, so I thought I’ll visit her before she returns to the Philippines.

Then, three weeks in India for the son’s wedding with his beautiful bride, Indian version. We’ll be visiting relatives before the wedding. Then after the wedding, we’re going around with a bus, touring the south of India. Looking forward to it!

Have a lovely week everyone!

Share Your World – 2016 Week 26

What’s your most memorable (good or bad) airplane flight?
When I was pregnant with HRH the son, we flew from Munich to Birmingham. I didn’t know I was pregnant that time, but we experienced a really bad turbulence and I was sick. That was horrible! And as for one of the best, the first time we flew in an Airbus A380, business class, from Munich to Dubai to Manila, which was brilliant! We went to the bar at the back and the stewardess was so friendly, she let me make my own cocktail! That was cool!

How many bones, if any, have you broken?
Thankfully, none!

If you had your own talk show, who would your first three guests be? (guest can be dead, alive, famous or someone you just know)
Him Indoors – he’s so brilliant with his dry English humour, my Mum – with all her experience as a Probation Officer in the Philippines and how she takes life gracefully and HRH the son – our pride and joy, the only son, about his marriage to his beautiful bride, his finishing his Masters and their plans for the future.

Make a Currently List: What are you reading, watching, listening to, eating, needing, wanting, and missing right now?
I’ve just finished the third book of Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children, Library of Souls, watching England’s football game (hope they win!), listening to some classical music in the background, just ate our dinner (king prawns with peppers), I don’t need anything at the moment and I’m missing HRH the son, of course!

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
Still a bit sad and angry at the result of the UK referendum. I hope we’ll be able to move on with this, work towards the betterment of the country and know what’s going to happen in the future.
We’re going to Berlin for a long weekend (Saturday to Tuesday). Looking forward to it!
Have a lovely week everyone!

A Walk from Kranzbach to Elmau to Fernchensee Lake

Hello everyone! Hope you’re all fine. Last Saturday, we walked from Kranzbach to Elmau Castle and then to Fernchensee Lake. As part of our Pearl Anniversary and Him Indoors’ birthday, we stayed at Das Kranzbach Hotel. This 4-star-superior hotel is located in beautiful forest countryside outside the village of Krün in the Bavarian Alps. This upscale spa retreat set in a 1915 country house with an annex is 16 km from Partnach Gorge and 15.9 km from Bavarian Zugspitze mountain railway. We were given a biggish room on the top floor of Mary Portman house. In the main house, the stylish rooms are furnished in a modern, Arts and Crafts style, and feature free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. Annex rooms add balconies and modern pine furnishings. Quirky treehouse and a 1915 gatehouse suites are also available.

our view from our room (we were on the top floor of the main house)

The weather was lovely, so we decided to go for a walk. Because it was raining the day before, we thought it not a good idea to be walking up the mountains, so we opted for a flat walk. From the hotel we walked for half an hour to Elmau Castle Hotel. Built in the early 20th century, Elmau Castle is set in the Bavarian Alps by the Wettersteinwand mountain range. Elmau was originally a castle built in 1916 by philosopher Dr. Johannes Muller for his readers who wanted to enjoy nature, classical music and personal development. In many ways, the hotel continues to embrace the direction of Dr. Muller; there are concerts, world-renowned speakers and authors that frequent the hotel both as guests and lectures. The castle was destroyed by a fire in 2005 and rebuilt and expanded in 2007 by his grandson; the renovation was so detailed and meticulous that it is difficult to tell where the old ends and the new begins.

We carried on walking until we reached Fernchensee Lake, 2 hours later. It was well worth it! The lake is located at an elevation of 1060 metres. Absolutely magnificent. Just pure natural beauty. They have a couple park benches to sit on and I think we took at least a half hour to just sit and enjoy it.

On the way back, we witnessed the Salomon Ultratrail Event. Around 2,200 runners gathered on the base of the Zugspitze to experience a very special trailrun weekend around Germanys highest mountain together. Then it rained on our way back to Kranzbach.

At the hotel, we swam, stayed in the jacuzzi to relax our aching muscles. Have a lovely week everyone!

Share Your World – 2016 Week 18

Who was your best friend in elementary school?
Wow, many moons ago! OK, I think it could be Dedette, we’ve known each other since we were 5! Actually we’re third generation friends, her grandmother with my granddad and her aunt with my aunt. So cool!

What things could people do for you on a really bad day that would really help you?
A big smile will do it!

If you could make a 15 second speech to the entire world, what would you say?
Let there be peace on earth!

Would you rather be an amazing dancer or an amazing singer?
An amazing dancer, even though I cannot really dance nor sing!

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
Last week was a normal week, with weather changing from a warm to snowy to rainy to sunny again!
HRH the son’s birthday today – yay! He’s 24! How time flies. And we’re all looking forward to his wedding to his beautiful K this month!
