30 Days of Thankfulness: Day 9

Friendship IXX by Khalil Gibran

And a youth said, “Speak to us of Friendship.”
Your friend is your needs answered.
He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside.
For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.
When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the “nay” in your own mind, nor do you withhold the “ay.”
And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart;
For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.
When you part from your friend, you grieve not;
For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.
And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.
For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught.
And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

What are you thankful for today?

I am thankful for friends – close friends, old friends, real and virtual friends, friends I have coffee with, friends I call when I have some good or bad news, colleagues, school friends, high school and college friends, etc.

Happy am I when friends listen to me
They tilt their heads and lean closer to me
Especially when we’re talking about love
While munching our crisps and olives
Gossiping about breakups, without doubt
Going out Friday nights, having our freak-outs
Happy am I when I know they are authentic
We may be all different, somehow we all click
Real friends, my allies, my critiques, too
Sticking with each other like glue
Meeting with them, shopping, having coffee
Going through a lot, ride smooth or bumpy
Telling about our pain with wild abandon
Crying together but most of the time, fun

Hello from our tortoises – Gin, Rex and Nik – happily munching their dandelions. Hope you are all fine. Lots of lovely smiles from me this week.

It’s amazing when I could just booked a flight to the Philippines after a phone call from my Mother. She wasn’t well, with temperature and flu, and I thought, I’d like to be with her. OK, it wasn’t that easy, I have to think of the timing, my sched at work and of course, Him Indoors. So, when Him Indoors got back from work, I told him about the plan and he said, why not? I looked at my sched for next term and the last class finishes middle of February next year. I’ve searched for a flight and the price wasn’t that bad, voila! I’m booked for February, 2 days after my last class. Staying for two weeks. Yay! I’m sure my Mother would be pleased.

Met my friend for lunch. We went to an Italian and she had pasta and I had risotto and we shared some mixed salad. The weather was gorgeous and we walked around town, saw nice pairs of trousers which were calling our names, so we bought them (I’ve got grey, she’s got green ones). Then we stopped by our favourite cafe and had capuccino and some cakes. Life is good!

a gift of friendship
not taking it for granted
nurture it with care

nurture it with care
exclusively mine and his
when it breaks it hurts

when it breaks it hurts
like it’s the end of world
perhaps in that world

end of beautiful friendship
if we could turn back the clock

Weekly Smile 35 #weeklysmile

Hello everyone! Hope you’re all fine. Last week, my friend surprised us by inviting another friend we haven’t seen for a long time, seven years to be exact! It was wonderful to see them again. We had been exchanging news forever! That was a big smile.

Sunny Bavaria is brilliant! The weather has been great. We’ve been cycling and swimming and meeting friends. Even our tortoises are happy eating their dandelions.

Met some friends in town yesterday and we’ve been shopping, walking, laughing, drinking capuccino, eating cakes, what fun!

Nightmare – Daily Prompt

texture1

How was it possible that she ended up here? She was so careful, followed the rules and took no risks whatsoever.

Pauline was looking forward to her holiday to Istanbul with her friend Janina. They seldom see each other and this holiday was planned for a long time. Janina booked her flight from Manchester and agreed to fly to London first so she could spend some time with Pauline before their flight to Istanbul. While they were packing their bags, Janina suggested they mix their stuff and bags in case some bags were lost or delayed, they’ve got at least some clothes from the other bag. Pauline agreed and packed their stuff.

At Istanbul airport, Pauline was surprised when the Customs asked her to open her suitcase. They checked it and took out Janina’s jewellery box. They asked her a lot of questions and she said it wasn’t hers, it’s her friend’s. They found some drugs hidden in it. By that time, Janina was nowhere to be found. And Pauline was arrested for a crime she didn’t commit. How could she ended up in Istanbul prison? What kind of a friend was Janina? How could she ever get out of this nightmare?

Hundred Islands – Daily Prompt

We had a trip to Hundred Islands and its home, Alaminos City when I was in the Philippines. The trip itself was a great diversion from the hustle and bustle of the busy, urban life. The rice paddies, azure sea and the rustic and peaceful lifestyle were refreshing as we made our way to Alaminos City. And upon arrival, we savoured the city’s unique and dynamic spirit, friendly atmosphere and especially, the beauty and adventure that lies in the hundred wonders that is Hundred Islands. The islands were believed to be about two million years old. They were actually ancient corals that extend well inland, in an area previously comprising the seabed of an ancient sea. The lowering of the sea level have exposed them to the surface. The peculiar “mushroom-like” shapes of some of the islands were caused by the eroding actions of the ocean waves.
